River Maine in Castlemaine
, Co. Kerry.
The River Maine drains an area of approximately 150 square miles. The mouth of the river opens into Castlemaine Harbour, 5km west of Castlemaine Town. Access to the river is generally poor, however the angler is rewarded for the perseverance as the river does offer a good late run of salmon and grilse and a good run with sizeable sea-trout all through the season.
Angling Season
Salmon: 17th March to 30th September.
Sea Trout: 17th March to 12th October.
