Mooghaun is the largest hillfort in Ireland built between 1260-930 BC. It is a trivallate hillfort, that is it has three near circular ramparts - one contained within another. The outer wall encloses just over 27 acres, the middle encloses 7 acres and the inner 2 acres. The rampart walls are over 11 metres wide in places and over 2 metres in height.
The hillfort is located on the lands of the Dromoland Estate.
