About Lusk Heritage Centre
Lusk Heritage Centre is located at Church Road in Lusk
, Co. Dublin.
Saint MacCullin founded a monastery at Lusk c. 450 AD and the site is also associated with Saint Maurus. It was plundered and burned several times in the succeeding centuries, the only remnant of an Early Christian foundation is the very well preserved 9th century Round Tower.
The Round Tower is attached to a square medieval belfry tower built in the 15th or 16th century with three matching round towers at its corners. The belfry tower houses an exhibition on Lusk and medieval churches of North County Dublin, everal medieval tombs including that of James Bermingham (1527) and the magnificent 16th century effigy tomb of Sir Christopher Barnewall and his wife Marion Sharl.
